Almost five years ago, Alexia Lefebvre left the Paris suburbs with her husband and two cats chasing a new life in Montreal. A dedicated teacher, Alexia made the leap after facing burnout in France’s public education system. She applied, almost on a whim, to several Montreal school boards during the 2019 “Journées Québec” job fair. And was offered every position she applied for! She’s now been teaching in primary schools around the city for five years.
In March 2023, their family grew with the arrival of their first child, Abel.
But what Alexia discovered in Canada goes beyond her career and family. From day one, she felt a sense of freedom with the ability to walk alone at night, wear what she wanted, and just be herself without judgment. And the kindness of Montrealers left a lasting impression.
She first heard about Canoo from her friend Anaïs, who is a pro at spotting good deals online! As a mom to a now two-year-old, Alexia found the Canoo app to be a game changer for her family.
“Canoo lifts the financial burden of outings with children and lets me offer my son fun, enriching activities.”
– Alexia
Together, they’ve explored Montreal’s Botanical Garden, the Biodome, and the Insectarium. But their favourite? The Montreal Science Centre! She even made that visit with a fellow mom friend and their toddlers, turning it into a memorable day spent among friends.

For Alexia, being part of the Canoo community means spreading the word to other parents. For anyone eligible, her advice is simple:
“Don’t hesitate! It’s full of amazing benefits.”
– Alexia
For newcomers to Canada, she encourages them to form their own opinions and experiences. All while remembering why they chose Canada.
In pursuit of her dreams, she remains rooted in her values: owning a home with a garden outside Montreal, becoming a specialized educator, and exploring more of Canada’s provinces with her husband and son.

And if you’re a parent, she highly recommends her Canoo top 5: the Science Centre, Biodome, Insectarium, Planetarium, and Botanical Garden. Next on her list? A solo visit to the PHI Centre because everyone deserves a moment for themselves. And the PHI Centre is a great space to do so fill with art inspired by Montreal.
