TELUS Spark Science Centre

For a day filled with discovery and excitement, go to the TELUS Spark Science Centre. Everything here is designed to create a love for science in children. Interactive displays, live demonstrations, and engaging workshops explore topics, like space exploration and human biology.

The Creative Kids Museum within TELUS Spark is the best activity for toddlers in Calgary! It is specifically designed for younger children, offering hands-on activities that build creativity and problem-solving skills.

TELUS Spark is not free to visit unless you have a Canoo Membership. Otherwise, you would be spending $26 on your ticket, alone. However, it’s well worth the price and you can spend at least 2 hours here. It’s even the top Canoo Destination for members with children!

Kids who love their toy planes will be thrilled with a visit to the Hangar Flight Museum. This museum shows the entire history of flight with a huge collection of aircraft from vintage planes to modern jets. This needs to be your next adventure as a family!

Kids can climb into the cockpits, learn about the mechanics of flying, and discover the stories of historic pilots. Combining education with the thrill of exploring real-life aircraft, your entire family will be on cloud nine. This is just one of many history museums to visit with your kids.

The Confluence (Previously known as Fort Calgary)

Step back in time and explore Calgary’s history at the Confluence. This National Historic Site offers an immersive experience into the early days of Calgary as a city.

During the 1800s until recently, the area was called Fort Calgary. And was used as a base for the North-West Mounted Police to help extend settlement in the region. Through exhibits, artifacts, and reconstructed buildings, visitors can learn about the lives of Indigenous peoples and the early settlers in Calgary.

Prepare to spend about 3 to 4 hours at the Confluence. And lots of that time will be spent walking. Because the Confluence provides a unique educational opportunity for children to understand the city’s roots. And introduce your family to the cultures that have shaped Calgary’s history.

Kids can ride a steam train, visit the historic buildings, interact with costumed interpreters, and play old-fashioned games. It’s an engaging way for families to experience history and enjoy a day filled with fun activities.

Once you visit, you may even notice that the park seems familiar! It’s been the setting for famous films, like the Assassination of Jesse James (2007) and Passchendaele (2008).

“The Ontario Science Centre was a whirlwind of discovery for our family. The kids were mesmerized by the rainforest on Level 6 and even spotted a poison dart frog. The interactive displays were fantastic. It was a day well spent. And, thanks to Canoo’s unlimited free entries during the first year of our membership, we can’t wait to explore more of the Science Centre and other places in Toronto!”
